This is a small bible, with a single page inscription in the front page.
It is from Mrs John Adie, to Captain John Clark, thanking him for trying to save the life of her husband, 21 October 1863.
The Bible was given 27 October 1863, at Limekilns, according to the inscription.
(Limekilns is in Scotland.)
The inscription is written in fair copper-plate, but somewhat faded, and then it is transcribed also in a more modern hand.
I have not been able to find the events referred to.
