THIS BIBLE NOW SOLD. This is a beautiful bible, well preserved and in some places professionally restored. It was first the gift of his mother to John Castell Deck in 1875, and there is an inscription and biblical quote written in by his mother on the front fly-leaf. One entry is for Richmond Frank Deck, who was killed in World War One and is buried in Belgium. The Deck family lived in Suffolk near Ipswich There are eight family inscriptions written in from 1876 to 1893 on the rear fly-leaf. Several pages have been professionally restored at some time, but you don't see these at first as they are so well done. This is a genuine personal bible used to record a man's family. It is not large, being about 9 inches by 6, and three thick, but the cover and presentation are very nice indeed.
