This large bible has detached back and front covers, but the pages in the enormous book are all securely bound. It is entitled with the embossed logo "The National Family Bible', though it was published by Cassells, there is no publication date. It has purpose-made pages for the family register, and the first page records the birth of Samuel Rider in Round Oak in 1870, and his wife Bedsey Jane in 1870. The next two pages list the births and birthplaces of nine children. I believe this to be the bible of Samuel Rider and his wife Betsey Jane Aston and their family, an iron worker, who lived at Bent Street in Brierley Hill in 1911.
