This is a large Family bible first started by Orlando Smethurst of Oldham who was born in 1849. The bible is in a poor state as the front and back covers are separated, but the pages are all there. The family history section has details of Orlando's marriage and his children and their families. As well as the family inscriptions there are two certificates from the 1920's for one woman in the family having taken her baby to the clinic, a postcard photo of two of the family, (un-named) and a couple of other printed items about the baby Eunice Bell. There is only one Orlando Smethurst in the history records so this can easily be identified to the right family.
